Experience

Matthew + Liv

At age 16, Mia worked with her neighbor, Matt, with Down Syndrome whom she had grown up with. What began as introductory piano lessons blossomed into songwriting workshops where Matt was finally able to get the satisfaction of expressing himself after continuously struggling to communicate his thoughts or feelings through just words. Currently, she teaches guitar lessons to her new student, Liv, (who also has Down Syndrome,) three times a week where they cover both music theory and general playing.

A Cappella Academy

Mia is extremely grateful to have attended A Cappella Academy for 4 summers, an intensive vocal camp where she worked with some of the leading musicians in Los Angeles who helped her to grow her voice, develop her individual artistic personality, and further her collaborative skills. Through this program she has performed on stage with Pentatonix, worked closely with co-founder Ben Bram, taken part in organic arranging classes with Tray Robertson and Erin Bentlage and worked closely with directors, Jared Jenkins, Mario Jose, Nathan Fertig, Taylor DiBernardo, Austin Kiley and Nathan Heldman.

Musical Education

Mia studied contemporary voice/theory with Baraka May for 10 years, then studied classical music with Mariné Ter-Kazaryan for a year and a half before studying music at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK. Realizing she wanted a larger and more contemporary music program offering music therapy, she is now on a gap year and studying privately with teacher Erin Bentlage.
